Spring is in the air

#MondayMusings

The other day I noticed the first signs of spring time. A handful of wild snow drops and tulips, pushing their way up through the frosty ground…

I just love the spring time, don’t you?

Because even if you’ve had a particularly hard and brutal winter season, as I have this year, the spring represents the hope of a fresh start.

It’s the promise of a change that’s coming.

It’s the first glimpse of new beginnings.

And it’s the reminder that there’s always new life springing up, even after death.

In spring, you can almost smell the scent of fresh hope in the air, can’t you? It feels tantalisingly close…

In Song of Songs, a book from the Bible, it puts it like this:

‘Behold, the winter is past; the rain is over and gone. The flowers appear on the earth, the time of singing has come’

And I don’t think I could put it any better myself, even all these thousands of years later.

But I just love how life despite the continual passing of time, some thing still remain a constant like the continual changing of the seasons, as sure and as certain as ever.

And don’t you think that the seasons are such a great physical reminder from the earth itself that no winter season lasts forever, however long dark. and lifeless it may seem.

It’s like nature itself is speaking God’s truth and reminding us that change always eventually comes.

So if your heart feels a little weighed down or heavy today, take heart, because spring is in the air.
